The first stage of excavation revealed rich textures and colours of soil, sand and water. An environment of man made forms was replaced by fluid natural forms; hills, cliffs and caves started to emerge on site as a truly epic dig began.

This sequence of images has been made by soaking a puddle (of soil, sand and water that collected in the corner of a digger bucket) onto paper, a small visual representation of a much larger process of extracting this material.
