This drawing scroll is a place where I try to capture the performance of the building being constructed,
I am looking for the repetitions, rituals and patterns in the movement of bodies.
To place a new building is a grand gesture, but it is a vast number of small actions that accumulate over time,
the scroll has come to mirror this, at the moment it stands at roughly thirteen metres in length,
it has become a very large image, but one that is constructed from much smaller individual moments.

This drawing scroll has provided the spine for my residency.
I am trying to gather as much knowledge of the building site as possible purely through looking at it
and provoking conversations with the people working there and the other people who watch it,
this has allowed me to develop many other pieces of work from a position of understanding.
